Soda ash, otherwise known as sodium carbonate, is a super versatile product that is used across many industries. It’s a white, odorless powder made from sodium salts. And, its unique characteristics make it a very important ingredient for all sorts of things – starting from household items to industrial processes. In simple terms – soda ash is a highly pure form of sodium carbonate. There are 3 grades available in soda ash: washing soda, light soda ash, and dense soda ash. Their chemical properties are identical, differing only in physical characteristics.

Applications

Soda ash is a key raw material in the production of glass, where it is used to reduce the melting temperature of the glass batch and improve the transparency of the glass.

Glass

It is used in the metallurgical industry as a flux, where it is added to metal alloys to improve the flow and viscosity of the molten metal. This allows for better casting of the metal and results in improved mechanical properties of the finished product.
